David and Cindy Lawson, Proprietors

Long before David and Cindy Lawson founded Covington Cellars, they shared a passion for wine, food, and travel. David was a home winemaker and Cindy a home cook. Then they took their interests to the next level– David studied Enology at UC Davis, and Cindy studied the culinary arts and the art of wine and food pairing at various culinary schools around the country. Today the couple shares their passions with other enthusiasts through their wine and cooking classes, winemaker dinners, and of course, the winery. David and Cindy reside in Covington, WA, with their two Vizslas, Starr and Chance.

Morgan Lee, Winemaker

Morgan shares David and Cindy’s passion for wine and came to Covington Cellars in May of 2007 after completing an internship in Enology at Columbia Crest Winery. Morgan is a graduate of Purdue University. When he’s not making wine, he enjoys creating mosaic art pieces, traveling, and all the outdoor activities that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. Morgan currently resides in Kirkland with his wife Sally, his son Oliver, and his black lab named Lola.

Donavon Claflin, General Manager & Assistant Winemaker

Donavon joined the Covington Cellars team at the start of the 2008 harvest. In addition to assisting Morgan in all aspects of production in the cellar, Donavon anchors the sales and marketing efforts of our team. You’ll find Donavon and Morgan sharing our wines at various venues around the city, from restaurants and wine shops to supporting local non-profit events. When he’s not busy working, Donavon enjoys spending time with his wife Rachel, and his son Justice.

Jessica Maldonado, Wine Club Manager

Jessica has been with Covington Cellars since November 2007. Prior to that, she volunteered for us at several events. Jessica is responsible for Guest Relations and managing our Wine Clubs. You’ll find Jessica working in the tasting room most weekends. When Jessica isn’t working at the winery, she enjoys traveling, working out, knitting, and spending time with friends.

Emily Janssen, Winery Events and Marketing Coordinator

Emily moved to Seattle from Minnesota in October of 2009. Her creativity and passion for promotion make her an ideal Marketing and Events Coordinator.

Chelsea Gillis, Events Manager

Chelsea has been planning events her entire career. Her eye for dedication, attention to detail, and shining smile make her a pleasure to work with and an asset to our team.

Trinity Mack, Executive Chef

Trinity’s food is as delicious as it is beautiful. Her artful presentation and knowledge of food are at the same time, impressive and inspirational.

Josh Rowley, Tasting Room Manager

Josh was a wine club member of Covington Cellars when he joined our team in the fall of 2009. Josh was looking for something to do in his spare time that included his passion for wine. We are glad to have him on our team.
